I miss the first year I did NaNoWriMo. I was a writing machine that year and nearly won had it not been for work. I was only a little over 2,000 words short, or maybe it was 4,000, either way, I should have called out of work to finish!

I've not even come close the other years.

This year is a close one. I'm hoping I can pick things up and get this story written, I'm way behind schedule. The reason being because I couldn't figure out what to write. I was thinking the plot was my main character becoming her own woman and the side plot was her falling in love with someone that couldn't stay. So writing was daunting because I couldn't figure out what to put in next. It was really boring.

But then, as I was talking about what I wanted to happen in my story, I figured out the real plot. The plot isn't about the woman becoming stronger, that's the side plot. The plot is her and the male character fighting to be together.

So I can hurry up and get the chick a job and then bring in the conflict of the two falling in love and someone saying, "Hold up there, you're not allowed to be together. She has to marry a live human being and you have to go help the next person."
